The meditative nature of water that I experience, especially through experiences on Lake Erie, conjures my personal connection with the water’s surface. I translate this through layers of latex paint on the canvas. Working while the canvas is lying flat, I pour the paint with silicone cups to interpret the movement and dimensionality of water. 

Recent paintings are influenced by intense reflections of light on water that continuously permeate the shadows or darkness. Vivid colors are reflected when shadows are most intense, often during sunrise or sunset, and I observe how light moves over and through the dark color hues. 

This recent series represents glimmers of hope amidst life’s storms, light interrupting dark with its intensity and power.
