“Sky/Water/Calm #4”, (single print), screenprint + monoprint, 44x30”

LISA SCHONBERG

Lisa Schonberg is a printmaker and teacher.  She explores the world of printmaking by combining a variety of processes including relief, intaglio, monoprinting and screenprinting.  Her images evoke a reverence for nature and exhibit phenomena such as water flow, earth formations, abstracted and entangled foliage along with other natural ephemera. The many patterned and textural layers in her prints are meant to reflect the beauty and mystery of earth’s elements such as land, wind, water and plant life, which we sometimes take for granted.

Lisa received her MFA in Printmaking from Kent State University and her BFA from Ohio University.  She is presently teaching as an adjunct professor of printmaking at Baldwin Wallace University, Notre Dame College and periodically teaches for the Cleveland Institute of Art/Continuing Ed. Dept.  Her career includes a variety of experiences from teaching in public and private schools to participating in artists’ residencies and internships.

Lisa is a resident artist at Zygote Press, a non-profit gallery and print studio in Cleveland, Ohio where she produces her prints, teaches and volunteers. She was the 2013 recipient of Zygote Press’s Dresden, Germany artist residency and has exhibited her work in galleries and at juried, invitational and solo shows since 1984. Her work is in the collections of the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Southwest General Hospital, MetroHealth Center, Hahn Loeser, LLP, the Ohio Arts Council, Zea Mays Printmaking Studio in Florence, Massachusetts, Grafikwerkstatt, Dresden, Germany and the Cuyahoga County Headquarters in downtown Cleveland.
