Christopher Kier - Transitional Object Studies # 2
About This Item:
Encaustic Wax + Oil Paint on Canvas
50” L x 2” W x 9” H
Transitional Object #2 is created with encaustic wax and oil paint, layered on canvas. There is some textural dimension on the surface of the canvas where the long boat-like shape has been carved out and painted by the artist.
The canvas is wrapped around a sturdy pine stretcher. It was completed in 2016, and is signed by the artist on the back. The piece hangs from two d-rings that are evenly mounted on the back of the stretcher.
Christopher Kier is a contemporary artist who works in encaustic painting and drawing. His work resembles architectural motifs and mid-century design. Encaustic medium is created with beeswax and oil pigments, which he mixes to create lush, rich textures. This painting can bring a sense of meditative, modern style to any setting.
Christopher Kier is originally from Toronto, Canada, but recently moved to Cleveland and has his home and studio in Tremont.
