Making the Fire Great Again is a recent painting by David King, created with layers of oil and acrylic paint. King’s work is heavily influenced by historical film and photo references, which this specific painting reflects on. David King is a contemporary artist who focuses on translating photographic images into lush paintings, created with oil paint, oil stick, chalk pastel and acrylic. King works with images of people, often his family members and those in historic photographs, and develops stories of the past through his artwork. He received an MFA from Kent State University, taught high school art for over 30 years in Northeast Ohio, and is currently retired, working in his studio in Cleveland Heights.
