Jessica Pinksy is a fiber artist, who also currently serves as the Executive Director at Praxis Fiber Workshop in Cleveland, Ohio. Jessica states that, “Weaving represents the inherent geometry of life and by stressing, cutting and manipulating this geometry, I constantly challenge and question this reality. I use natural fiber because of its connection to human skin and tissue, and because of the tactility of textiles and its connection to human experience and memory.”

This specific weaving was part of a series of 16 primary color weavings, and is created with linen, wool and chemical dye. It hangs from large sewing needles which can easily be nailed into a wall for installation. Red V was completed in 2015, and has a very small, metal piece sewn onto the lower corner, which is hand stamped with the artist’s signature.

Jessica Pinsky holds art degrees from New York University and Boston University, and currently lives and works in Cleveland, Ohio.
