This Fall, HEDGE Gallery is thrilled to feature Cleveland artist Mark Howard’s most recent projects; beautifully crafted cut paper collage and textured paintings designed with a range of adventurous color hues that are inspired by German expressionism. Shape Shifters will be Howard’s first prominent solo exhibition since his 2013 show at William Busta Gallery.

While 2020 ushered in so many unexpected changes, Mark Howard had already begun shifting his practice, instilling incremental new ideas. Much of Howard’s past work maintained a black sensibility and urban theme, but he recently began questioning the relevance of figurative subject matter in his prolific painting, printmaking and collage work.
