Dayum is a beautifully designed sculpture, created with iron filaments that are solidified with resin and air-brushed with acrylic paint, completed in 2020, and signed by the artist on the bottom of the wooden panel. The three dimensional qualities of the sculpture are created with magnetism; each iron filament is carefully pulled into place until the artist feels that the form is complete. The sculpture is mounted to a wooden panel, and covered in a clear acrylic box for protection.
The sculpture can be displayed on any flat surface, and the Gallery can provide a white pedestal at an additional cost.
Matthew Gallagher is a multi disciplinary artist who uses paint, ink, encaustic, and natural materials to map the expression of his physical processes, presenting an alternative method to the traditional understanding of physics through mathematics. This 2013 Oberlin College graduate reveals properties of our environment that wouldn’t otherwise be apparent, empowering people to experiment and play with their own surroundings. Gallagher’s thought provoking work can be found in many private and permanent collections.
